Pile Carpets Iboli
Pile carpets – we call them “iboli” -- are the most characteristic of the Siroua region. Two main styles can be seen in our atelier. The Ouaouzguite style is the traditional style of the Amazigh (Berber) tribes in our region. It is characterized by repetitive and varied geometric patterns in bright, vibrant colors. The so-called “ribati” (royal) style has been made in this region for years, having been imported from the cities many generations ago. These carpets usually feature a central medallion and more organic, flowery designs. Some carpets blend the two, using the central medallion with geometric shapes. We also create more fanciful designs featuring animals, buildings or objects, and can incorporate words and copy logos as well.
